Hammer competes with Hell Tour at Brownstown and I-55
Kyle Hammer returned to Brownstown Bullring (Brownstown, Ill.) on Friday afternoon to debut with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals for the eighth round of the Hell Tour.
With the pit area crammed full with 48 Late Models, Hammer followed up the ninth-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a second-place finish in his heat. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 12th, Kyle held onto a 14th-place finish after mid-race contact with another competitor.
On Saturday at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.), Kyle’s sixth-place finish in his heat race relegated him into a consolation event for another shot at the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Needing to place second or better, Hammer nearly raced his way into the show with a eighth-to-third charge, missing out on a transfer spot by one car.
