Kyle Hammer competes in Illinois Speedweek at Spoon, Lincoln, and FCR
Taking part in the second annual Illinois Speedweek, Kyle Hammer traveled to Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) on Wednesday evening to pilot the Brent McKinnon-owned No. 26H Midwest Farm and Land Company Late Model.
Drawing 48 Castrol FloRacing Night in America entries, Kyle’s 11th-place finish in his heat race relegated him into a B-Main for another shot at the opener. Needing to place second or better, Hammer logged a 12th-place outing.
For another $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), Hammer followed up the 18th-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a sixth-place showing in his heat. Transferring into a B-Main for another shot at the A-Main, Kyle’s night was over after finishing ninth.
Pulling double duty on Friday, Hammer invaded Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) to compete in the Late Model and Modified ranks for the Farmer City 74. After finishing sixth in his Late Model heat, Hammer was slated to start on the second row of his B-Main before a rain shower postponed the remainder of the program to Monday, May 15th.
The team returned on Monday but Kyle failed to transfer into the $25,000-to-win Farmer City 74 with a sixth-place finish in his consolation event.
