Kyle Hammer sets fast time on opening night of Sunshine Nationals

Embarking on his first year on tour with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Kyle Hammer trekked to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) on Thursday evening for the opening round of the Sunshine Nationals. With 47 cars on the grounds, Hammer topped the speed charts in time trials with a 16.046-second lap but broke a driveshaft while running in fourth in his heat. After taking part in his time trial session on Friday, Kyle opted out of his heat race and B-Main due to rough track conditions.

Saturday’s finale fell victim to Mother Nature and was postponed to February 16th.
